Congratulations to Anjali! She was chosen as our Outstanding student in Mathematics and Science & Technology for the 2017-2018 School Year. Anjali will receive her award May 16, 2018 at the NMC Hagerty Center. "Anjali is an outstanding student in both Mathematics and Science. She is self-driven and never backs down from problem solving. Her desire and work ethic are second to none, and it shows in her work daily. Anjali is a leader among her classmates and often offers to help them, and she is able to take concepts learned in class, internalize them and make sense of them in the real world. Something that makes Anjali special is her ability to confront her mistakes and own them in order to better herself. She understands that no one is perfect, but her drive for perfection, even in the face of adversity, is something special. Anjali is a role model that her fellow students look up to and seek out in times of need. She truly represents the best of the qualities we ask of in our students," were the comments of her Math and Science teachers.

March 14, 2018 Kalkaska Public Schools will host once again the annual Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association's District 2 Middle School Honor's Band. Over 100 students from 26 Lower North-West Michigan Public Schools will participate in this all day event. Area Band Director's nominated a total of over 200 students! From this huge list of students the Chairperson of this event had the job of creating a balanced, full ensemble. Can you imagine a band with 31 percussionists, 28 trumpets or 31 clarinets? That'd be a really nice start for a HUGE marching band! Congratulations to the following musicians representing Kalkaska Middle School this year:
